I just finished a round neck resonator, not having much experience
with them what gauge strings would be a good starting point. I put a
set of D Addario Phosphor Bronze 12-53. It sounds pretty good but I’m
thinking maybe a little heavier might sound even better. I will also
try to get some pics up of the guitar this weekend

I use 13-56 in open D or open G, but they will tune up to open E or open A.

Any pics?

Here's some string gauges and tunings. I have to get them individually at
the music store but there are places you can order sets on line.

12 would be way too light for me.

Cindy has some decent instructional material too if interested

Yeah, Cindy's style is pretty accessible, and she covers a wide range of
techniques and tunings. There is an interesting Youtube of her and Sonny
Landreth doing "Hard time killing floor" <g> that inspired me to record a
reso version. I'm still working to develop a technique like Sonny's on that
recording - I have no idea how he manages to keep it so clean.

Just a general word of warning for those that don't know. The dobro string
sets, about 17-56 are designed for dobro G tuning (GBDgbd) on a squareneck.
That is a very high tension and I wouldn't use it on a roundneck reso. They
would probably be OK tuned down to open D (DADf#ad) or G (DGDgbd) on a
roundneck, I wouldn't use them on a flattop.
